In the article “Talking About Failure Is Crucial for Growth. Here’s How To Do It Right” written by Oset Babur, the author writes about the importance of failure in order to grow as a person. In my opinion, I do agree with his perspective. If you don’t ever fail, you can’t learn how to improve. People fear of failing because they’re scared that they’re not measuring up to other people or to their expectation of themselves. Also, people prefer to process failure internally and quickly move on, instead of taking time to reflect on what went wrong and how to do better the next time.

In the second article “A 5-Second Habit Rewire Your Harshly Self-Critical Brain” written by Joel Almeida, the author writes about how stress and negativity can affect the core component of the brain. When stress overwhelms an individual to the point that they have a constantly low mood, the brain has the tendency to gradually change.  With that being said, small advances and triumphs should be celebrated in order to focus on the positive more than the negative. This way, by acknowledging and celebrating each small step in a forward direction, you’re able to learn and grow as a person.

  1. Hey Sara! I couldn't agree more! People are petrified by the thought of failing but it is one of the most useful tools we can use to grow in maturity. I think many people struggle to identify failures as well. Sometimes we think a failing grade or not winning a particular award is failure but actually you could fail a class and learn more than anyone else in that class and in that sense, you were the most successful. We have to use the right measuring stick when we measure success and failures.
