Topic Research: Draupadi

Of the four topic that I wrote about last week, I decided to look more in-depth and to focus more on Women of the Epics, especially Draupadi. I thought that learning about Draupadi would be an interesting choice because of her strong character. With that being said, in the book “The Palace of Illusions ” written by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, the author writes from Draupadi’s point of view of a women living in a patriarchal world. I thought that this was a creative of approach, in which is a storytelling style that I’d look into. I think that by having the story written in a first person point of view it  allows Draupadi to fully express her story and her emotion. Furthermore, I really enjoyed reading the first three chapters of the book, Fire, Blue, and Milk. In this first chapter, I was able to read more about Draupadi’s birth and how everyone worshipped her brother more because he was a boy.
